Position Overview

Kiewit’s Industrial&Water market is growing across North America, and we are adding Electrical and Instrumentation designers to our team in our Calgary, Alberta office. The role involves applying engineering national and local codes for US and Canada projects, developing schematics and one‑line drawings, designing duct banks, cable trays, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion, and creating 3D models using REVIT and Smartplant 3D. Responsibilities also include routing electrical cables in a 3D environment, verifying NEC requirements, producing plan drawings and details, completing as‑built records, participating in project meetings, and providing lessons learned throughout the project.Location

This position is based in the Calgary, Alberta office. Relocation assistance is offered to candidates within Canada to the Calgary area. Responsibilities

Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes for US and Canada projects. Develop schematics and one‑line drawings from engineering sketches or mark‑ups. Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion. Develop 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills; check interferences and constructability using REVIT and Smartplant 3D.Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule. Model electrical components using vendor submittals and electrical designs. Perform calculations to check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements and size pull boxes. Gather information needed to develop design and verify voltage separation requirements are met.Create plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables. Analyze, inspect, and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards and department procedures. Provide lessons learned throughout the project by utilizing the Lessons Learned database. Complete as‑built records by utilizing RFIs, ECNs, and red‑marked drawings from construction to develop "Conformed to Construction Records" as required.Participate in project meetings as required. Check design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking. Resolve checked drawings; prove and understand comments made. Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development. Qualifications

Associates, Vocational, or Bachelor's degree in Design/Drafting Technology, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mathematics or a similar field. 5+ years of electrical design experience as outlined above. Experience utilizing 3D programs to deliver 3D models for electrical systems for building and industrial facilities; must have 5 years of 3D modeling experience in REVIT or Smartplant 3D and knowledge of latest computer operating systems.Ability to conceptualize in a 3D workplace. Experience supporting industrial projects such as Water/Wastewater, Data Centers, and Industrial Power is highly desired. Must understand NEC code as it pertains to industrial facilities. Must be able to communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests.Proficient with spreadsheets, databases, and PDF software. Ability to represent Kiewit manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and other contacts outside the Kiewit organization. Must be able to work and travel to the US. Working Conditions
