Outside Technical Sales Specialist– Industrial Controls Company: Westburne, a division of Rexel Canada Electrical Inc. Location: Calgary, BC. Type: Full-time.

Westburne is a leader in electrical product distribution across Canada’s commercial, residential, industrial and institutional markets. We are seeking an Outside Technical Sales Specialist to bolster our Industrial Controls portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Development:

Build relationships with existing and prospective customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.

Identify growth opportunities within assigned territories through prospecting, networking, and follow‑up on leads.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations that showcase the value of our products and services.

Business Planning:

Develop and deliver an annual business plan with specific sales targets for the industrial components team.

Evaluate training needs of internal customers to promote self‑sufficiency in Industrial Controls products.

Act as the customer’s champion with suppliers to quickly find solutions for technical or commercial issues.

Technical Expertise:

Build deep knowledge of the company’s product portfolio – electrical, automation and energy solutions.

Collaborate with technical teams to provide accurate, effective solutions to customer challenges.

Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies and competitor offerings.

Customer Support:

Serve as a trusted advisor, offering technical guidance throughout the sales process.

Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction and long‑term relationships.

Professional Growth:

Participate in training programs, workshops and mentorship opportunities.

Shadow senior sales specialists to learn best practices and gain hands‑on experience.

Set and achieve performance goals aligned with progression to a senior‑level role.

Collaboration:

Work closely with engineering, operations and customer service teams to deliver solutions seamlessly.

Provide feedback to product management and marketing to improve offerings and address customer needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Technologist) or equivalent experience.

1–3 years of experience in sales, customer service or a technical role (internships and co‑ops considered).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport and trust.

Technical aptitude and willingness to learn complex products and solutions.

Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and eager to take on challenges.

Valid driver’s license, passport and ability to travel within assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the electrical, automation or energy industries.

Familiarity with CRM software and sales tools.

Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
