Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.Reporting to the Director, Design and Engineering Services the Senior Electrical Engineer will play an integral role on the Design and Engineering Services team supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across Canada in the Buildings and Industrial business units.This position will be based out of the Calgary, Edmonton or Torontooffice dependent on the successful candidate’s residence.What you will be working onTechnical reviews of electrical drawings and specification packages for missing information on design and code-related issues.Collaborative work with design and trade partners and pre-construction/construction teams.Alternative design strategy recommendations for consideration by our design partners and project team.Cost saving strategies relating to electrical systems design and operation.Active participation in all phases of assigned projects from the pursuit phase to project close-out.What We Are LookingForBachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering), Bachelor of Engineering - Electrical or equivalent university degree requiredRegistered Professional Engineer designation with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association required (APEGA or EGBC)Minimum 15 years consulting experience in electricalbuilding systems designExperience in projects delivered under collaborative contracts such as Progressive Design-Build, Construction Management, Integrated Project Delivery and Alliance requiredWorking knowledge using Procore, BIM, Revit, Revisto and NavisworksExperience in complex projects valuedover $200M required, over $500M preferredConstruction administration experience considered an assetLEED certification and/or experience designing buildings with CaGBC’s Net-Zero Building Design/Performance Certifications considered advantageousEffective and efficient problem solving and decision-making skills; thoughtful, proactive and creativeDemonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environmentAbility to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groupsStrong written and oral communication skillsAble to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environmentAbility to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve themStrong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailWillingness to travelWe Put Safety FirstA healthy and safe work environment is non-negotiable.
