Yorkville Sound is a Canadian manufacturer of professional audio equipment with a 60-year history of designing and building reliable products for musicians, venues, and commercial customers. Our products under the Yorkville, Traynor, and ART brands are developed and manufactured in our vertically integrated facility in Pickering, Ontario. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a leading role in the design and development of our next generation of hardware products.

About the Role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own significant portions of product designs from concept through to production. You will work on systems such as powered loudspeakers, amplifiers, signal processors, and related hardware, in close collaboration with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The role combines circuit design, system‑level thinking, practical lab work, and support for production. You will also contribute to mentoring less‑experienced engineers, and help set technical direction within the group.

Responsibilities

Lead or support the design of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits for audio products

Design and review switch‑mode power supplies, power amplifiers, and DSP‑based hardware as appropriate to the project

Take designs from concept through schematic, PCB, prototype, verification, and transfer to manufacturing

Conduct and oversee testing, including performance, reliability, and compliance tests

Work with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufacturable, robust, and cost‑effective

Investigate field and production issues; implement and validate corrective actions

Produce clear design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and engineering reports

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technologists within the team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Typically 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, ideally in product development for manufactured goods

Demonstrated experience taking designs from concept to production

Strong background in analog and digital circuit design

Proficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or similar) and standard lab instruments

Familiarity with EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory considerations for commercial products

Practical, hands‑on approach; comfortable working with prototypes, fixtures, and production hardware

Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal

Eligible to work in Canada and able to work on‑site in Pickering, ON

Preferred Experience (assets)

Audio, music, or sound reinforcement equipment (amplifiers, powered speakers, mixers, DSP)

Switch‑mode power supply design and high‑power audio

Embedded systems and firmware collaboration (e.g., working alongside microcontroller/DSP developers)

Manufacturing environment or working closely with production teams

Familiarity with IEC62368‑1 standard
