Our products under the Yorkville, Traynor, and ART brands are developed and manufactured in our vertically integrated facility in Pickering, Ontario. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a leading role in the design and development of our next generation of hardware products.
About the Role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own significant portions of product designs from concept through to production. You will work on systems such as powered loudspeakers, amplifiers, signal processors, and related hardware, in close collaboration with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The role combines circuit design, system‑level thinking, practical lab work, and support for production. You will also contribute to mentoring less‑experienced engineers, and help set technical direction within the group.
Responsibilities
Lead or support the design of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits for audio products
Design and review switch‑mode power supplies, power amplifiers, and DSP‑based hardware as appropriate to the project
Take designs from concept through schematic, PCB, prototype, verification, and transfer to manufacturing
Conduct and oversee testing, including performance, reliability, and compliance tests
Work with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufacturable, robust, and cost‑effective
Investigate field and production issues; implement and validate corrective actions
Produce clear design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and engineering reports
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technologists within the team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Typically 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, ideally in product development for manufactured goods
Demonstrated experience taking designs from concept to production
Strong background in analog and digital circuit design
Proficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or similar) and standard lab instruments
Familiarity with EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory considerations for commercial products
Practical, hands‑on approach; comfortable working with prototypes, fixtures, and production hardware
Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal
Eligible to work in Canada and able to work on‑site in Pickering, ON
Preferred Experience (assets)
Audio, music, or sound reinforcement equipment (amplifiers, powered speakers, mixers, DSP)
Switch‑mode power supply design and high‑power audio
Embedded systems and firmware collaboration (e.g., working alongside microcontroller/DSP developers)
Manufacturing environment or working closely with production teams
Familiarity with IEC62368‑1 standard
Why Work at Yorkville Sound
