Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge- Project Consultant Location:
Winnipeg, MB Duration:
April 1, 2026– March 31, 2027 (estimated at part time hours) Compensation:
$50,000 About the Role
The Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge is seeking proposals from qualified First Nation, Inuit, and Metis sexual and reproductive justice consultants with experience managing research projects and community knowledge gathering to advance matriarchal governance. The applicant will provide coordination and early implementation of a lodge governance model grounded in First Nation, Inuit, and Metis knowledge and matriarchal leadership.
Project Overview
The Kôhkums who lead the lodge identified matriarchal leadership as a foundation of our work and developed this proposal to support their work. The overall goal of this project is to create an intentional matriarchal governance and leadership structure based on the organic evolution of our sexual wellbeing lodge. This project will provide the time and resources to sit in ceremony with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, to return to the land, to seek the language that makes meaning of our work, to learn from other communities about what matriarchal leadership looks like, and to formally describe and embody these teachings to improve the sexual health and wellbeing of our relatives.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate would have experience with and knowledge of the following:
Indigenous governance and community building
Sexual health, including a culturally safe and sex‑affirming approach to care.
General understanding of STBBI prevention, treatment, and care.
Understanding and enactment of the concepts and practice of sex positivity and harm reduction.
A commitment to culturally safe and transformational health care for Indigenous communities.
Strong research writing and organizational skills
Experience in information gathering, analysis, and synthesis of ideas and themes that emerge.
Ability to work independently and meet goals and deliverables.
Program development and workplace culture expertise an asset
The successful candidate will invest in the culture and approach at the lodge and value working in a team that is invested in meaningful sexual wellness grounded in Indigenous knowledge and science. The Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge prioritises relationship building, without judgment. We practice meeting people where they’re at in order to provide safe, meaningful, and community‑oriented care with a focus on sex positivity. The successful consultant will work in alignment with the lodge’s teachings.
Scope of Work / Contract Deliverables
Land–Based Gathering and Project Opening – Coordinate with the Kôhkums and lodge team to plan and execute an event that opens the project and establishes goals, scope, and timeline.
Literature Review and Community Information Gathering– Deliver a document providing a scan of the literature and community consultation related to the concept of matriarchy and matriarchal governance.
Lodge Governance Document Development– Develop and execute a knowledge‑gathering strategy to learn about the history and current practices of the lodge and develop a governance model grounded in Indigenous matriarchal leadership.
MPSWL Matriarchal Governance Model Guidance Document and Culture‑Building Overview – Deliver a guidance document providing an overview of the lodge model and integrate and analyse reports and documents developed over the year; provide recommendations on curriculum and learning objectives to support the lodge’s continued culture building.
Final Gathering– Plan and execute a final community gathering and knowledge exchange to close out the project.
Monitoring and Evaluation
This project requires two reports to be submitted. The consultant will be responsible for a 6‑month report and a final report that includes:
A summary of the project activities
Description of project outcomes
Any documents or tools that were developed for the project/lodge
