Our client is a privately held commercial construction company operating in the Windsor area with a steady pipeline of projects and hands‑on leadership.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking to bring in a reliable and experienced accounting professional to take ownership of day‑to‑day financial operations and support the company’s ongoing performance.
Who this role is for This role is best suited for someone who:
Has strong experience in construction or project‑based accounting Is confident working directly with ownership and internal teams Can take initiative and operate independently
This is not a fit for someone who Prefers highly structured corporate environments Needs close supervision or avoids ownership Is not confident communicating or taking the lead Does not have experience with Sage
What you will be doing Manage full‑cycle accounting across multiple entities Oversee: Financial statements, Government remittances (HST, payroll), Intercompany transactions Handle construction‑specific accounting, including: Job costing, Holdbacks, Subcontractor payments Review and correct financial discrepancies and improveaccuracyAssign and oversee work for administrative/accounting support staff Work closely with ownership and internal teams on financial tracking Strengthen processes and bring structure to the accounting function
What we’re looking for 5+ years of accounting experience Strong Sage experience - non‑negotiable Construction accounting experience, including job costing, holdbacks, subcontractor payments, and project financial tracking Proven ownership of full‑cycle accounting High accuracy and attention to detailConfident communication with ownership, project teams, and internal staff Ability to take initiative and operate independently in a hands‑on office environment
Nice to have Experience with Procore or similar systems Experience managing or directing junior staff
