Multiplatform Producer (English Services) (On‑Site) Permanent position requiring full‑time on‑site presence.
Role Overview Lead a team that drives local, innovative storytelling on audio, digital, video and social platforms for CBC Yukon. Responsibilities include programming daily radio shows (Yukon Morning, Midday Café, Airplay), leading daily team meetings, coordinating story chases, making editorial decisions, writing scripts, conducting interviews, and collaborating with other CBC producers and reporters.
Responsibilities
Program the three daily shows; assign, edit and line up segments.
Lead daily team meetings and coordinate story chases.
Make decisions on audio treatments, write scripts and conduct interviews.
Coordinate with News, Digital and Video Producers and reporters across Canada.
Collaborate with program staff to cover stories affecting the Yukon audience.
Initiate ideas and projects to engage and grow audiences.
Coordinate the work of others and assist with CBC Yukon and other CBC stations.
Produce daily current‑affairs‑driven shows and manage editorial decisions.
Required Tasks
Coordinate resources and coverage plans for daily content creation, special projects, series, remote broadcasts and streaming content.
Lead story meetings and participate in content preparation for local, regional and national audiences.
Write, vet, review scripts and question lines for the shows.
Analyze story selections and provide feedback.
Work with hosts on delivery, style, pace, tempo and format of shows.
Develop database of ideas for stories and programming specials.
Provide feedback and coaching to journalists.
Work flexible hours and overtime as required.
Qualifications
Relevant post‑secondary degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience; at least 3 in broadcasting or a closely related industry.
Strong understanding of Yukon’s social, political and cultural landscape.
Demonstrated experience leading a team or unit.
Experience gathering voice and sound and producing audio segments for radio.
Experience producing daily current‑affairs‑driven shows.
Demonstrated understanding of digital, video and mobile platforms.
Superior editorial decision‑making, critical thinking and listening skills.
Thorough knowledge of CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Strong vetting skills and quick, decisive editorial judgment.
Excellent editorial/production skills in Dalet and other audio editing software.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and coaching skills.
Valid driver’s license and meeting insurance requirements.
Background Checks
A mandatory criminal record check.
Other background checks may be conducted based on operational requirements.
