Position Casual Housekeeper - 8:00am-4:00pm (must be available to work weekends)

Wage and Compensation This position is covered under the HEABC wage levelling. The wage is currently being adjusted and topped up by the government, and the displayed wage reflects this initiative.

About the Role The Housekeeper reports to the Support Services Manager and/or designate and performs all aspects of cleaning duties in the community to maintain the established standards for sanitation, cleanliness, and a safe work environment for all persons served.

Responsibilities

Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.

Carry out all aspects of routine and rotation cleaning throughout the building and suites, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning appliances, washing floors, walls, windows and doors, changing and making beds, removing curtains/window coverings for cleaning and re‑hanging, garbage removal, and terminal cleaning of suites.

Maintain a safe environment for residents, family and staff through accident prevention, knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations, safe use of supplies and equipment, and reporting when repairs are necessary. Keep work area orderly, safe, and clean; keep inventory in order on individual carts; replenish supplies throughout the building; and utilize infection control procedures.

Report significant changes or uncommon resident behaviour or concerns to nursing staff as required.

Attend and participate in community and education programs.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications And Skills

Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

WHMIS Certificate.

First Aid Certificate as applicable.

Free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.

Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.

All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to provincial guidelines.

Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work with cleaners, detergents and other cleaning equipment.
