What will you do? The Financial Analyst supports financial planning, cost management, and reporting activities by partnering closely with Cost Accountant and other Finance team members. This role contributes to accurate product costing, budgeting and forecasting processes, month‑end close activities, and continuous improvement initiatives, including digitalization and automation.
Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and support budgets and financial forecasts to guide business planning and decision‑making
Partner with the Cost Accountant to support standard product cost calculations, including material, labor, and overhead components
Assist with cost roll‑ups, cost updates, and variance analysis, identifying key drivers and explaining variances versus standards, budgets, and forecasts
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement
Work closely with the Operations teams and cost center managers to monitor and control costs to ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and financial targets
Support the month‑end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and related analyses
Evaluate accounting records and prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management and stakeholders
Communicate financial insights, analyses, and recommendations to cross‑functional partners and senior management
Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, and support internal and external audits as required
Drive process improvement, digitalization, and automation by identifying inefficiencies, enhancing data accuracy, and improving reporting efficiency
Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses, providing financial and analytical support to meet evolving business needs
Perform additional duties as required to support Finance and cross‑functional objectives
What will you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2+ years of progressive experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Exposure to standard costing, inventory, and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis is an asset
Experience supporting month‑end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Familiarity with internal controls, audit processes, and compliance requirements
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex financial data
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) is an asset
Experience with Power BI and AI‑driven analytics to support reporting and decision‑making is an asset
High attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy, controls, and data integrity
Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to cross‑functional partners and management
Salary Salary is commensurate with experience and ranges between 65,000 CAD – 90,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to the base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of 10% of base salary, based on Company performance metrics.
