Summary A Construction Scheduler at Clearway is responsible for the creation, maintenance and updating of CPM schedules of construction projects. Tasks involve developing schedules, revisions of schedules, time keeping, document control, coordination with project team, and creating progress reports of the project. The role entails working closely with our Estimating and Proposals Teams, Project Coordinators, Project Managers and all business and technical teams within the company to meet organizational objectives.

The Construction Scheduler will report directly to the Construction Schedule Supervisor.

Location: Clearway's Head Office– Maple, ON.

Hours of Operations: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

As a heavy civil contractor, Clearway’s workforce requirements can fluctuate with project schedules and anticipated contract awards. We are currently seeking skilled candidates to join our team and encourage qualified applicants to submit their application.

Essential Duties&Responsibilities

Identify major milestones, critical approvals, and long-lead procurement items.

Participate in the planning and schedule preparation process during pursuits and in response to RFP documents for projects.

Develop and maintain construction project schedules using Primavera P6 software.

Follow up with Site Personnel and Senior Management to verify details of proposed project schedules.

Revise schedule logic, sequencing, and durations based on resource availability, material supply, site conditions, and other project conditions, as needed.

Review vendors’ and subcontractors’ schedule submittals and incorporate them into the construction project schedule.

Conduct regular meetings with Site Personnel, including but not limited to the Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, and Senior Management, to review completed work and confirm upcoming work.

Ensure deadlines are met and major project milestones are outlined within schedules.

Improve scheduling efficiencies.

Prepare and maintain the project schedule log on a regular basis.

Promptly notify representatives of perceived changes in the contract conditions and/or the proposed scope of work.

Work with the project team to identify errors and brainstorm strategies to avoid potential delays and to accelerate the completion of the work.

Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.

Help track delays on progress schedules and develop Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) in a timely contractual manner for extension-of-time requests and delay claims.

Complete additional administrative tasks as required by Senior Management.

Determine reasonable schedule logic and constraints based on discussions with technical and business teams.

Develop realistic activity durations based on production rates and available manpower, in discussion with technical and business teams.

Assign resources (cost, labour, equipment, and materials) to activities and develop cash flow reports and resource histograms.

Develop schedule narratives and progress reports in line with specified contract requirements.

Evaluate critical and near-critical path activity sequences.

Assess actual progress based on site inspections.

Identify schedule changes and trends.

Prepare and maintain project controls and schedule performance reports, including S-curves, cash flow forecasts, earned value analysis, milestone trend analysis, variance analysis, and progress dashboards.

Develop and issue regular reports to communicate schedule status, forecast completion, critical and near-critical path activities, schedule deviations, and recommended corrective actions.

Analyze planned versus actual progress, productivity, and performance trends to support management reporting, recovery planning, and project decision-making.

Suggest corrective actions and/or develop recovery plans when delays are anticipated or occur.

Support risk allocation and value engineering workshops.

Prepare post-construction as-built schedules and lessons learned reports.

Requirements

University or College education– B. Eng. or Construction Engineering Technology program.

5+ years of experience in construction-related activities.

3+ years of experience in scheduling-related activities.

Proficient experience in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and report preparation.

Strong to expert-level proficiency in Excel.

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe; Bluebeam Revu is an asset.

Knowledge of Jonas Construction Software and HeavyBid estimating programs is an asset.

Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).

Experience in LRT, railway, transit, MTO, and typical linear civil construction projects is an asset.

Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skills.

Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.

Ability to problem-solve.

Ability to meet deadlines and work under strict time constraints.

Ability to work effectively in a team.

Ability to quickly earn the trust of peers, project teams, and key stakeholders to mobilize and motivate teams.

Willingness and ability to learn new technology quickly and adapt.

Self-motivated and driven.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada– no work permit sponsorship is available for this position.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $115,000 (CAD)
