Responsibilities Bartenders are responsible for providing libations and offering customized recommendations. They must be familiar with the latest in mixology, bar equipment, and sanitation standards, and maintain an attractive bar. This position offers the opportunity for casual conversation and creativity, allowing for building on one’s style and previous bartending experiences. Preferred candidates will understand local serving guidelines.
Candidate must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shifts could either be opening shifts (AM, MID or PM) which start at 9:00AM and/or closing shifts until 2:00AM.
Starting wage for this position is $21.98 per hour, increasing to $25.65 per hour after 6 months, and $29.31 per hour after 1 year.
Qualifications
Must have BC Serving It Right certificate
Must have Food Safe Level 1 certificate
Must be available to work various shifts which include weekends and holidays depending on business needs
Must be available to work shifts that start at 9:00AM and end at 2:00AM
Must have at least one year bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant or pub setting
Previous customer service experience is a must
Must be able to carry engaging conversations with all guests
Previous cash handling experience preferred
Must have good upselling skills
Must be an excellent team player and be able to work and communicate with a diverse group of individuals
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to make sound decisions and have a keen sense of judgment
Must have an upbeat personality and remain positive and professional at all times
Must have refined verbal communication skills
Knowledge of a second language is considered an asset
Physical Aspects of Position
Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Capable of performing repetitious duties
Must be able to comply with all safety and sanitation procedures
Must have a neat appearance and be well groomed
Visa Requirements Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
