Description
Reporting to the Supervisor– Business Development, the Business Development Representative is responsible for driving business growth, expanding market presence, and increasing wallet share with key, target, and growth customers within an assigned territory.

This role requires a strategic and systematic approach to prospecting, qualifying opportunities, managing customer relationships, understanding competitive market conditions, and executing sales strategies that support end‑user project completion. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying opportunities, developing customer partnerships, and delivering consistent sales growth.

Business Development

Maintain a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and business practices when interacting with customers, suppliers, peers, and team members.

Collaborate effectively with the Rice sales team to share relevant customer and market information that supports overall sales success.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and customer service standards.

Support and contribute to corporate and departmental initiatives and objectives.

Demonstrate commitment to Rice’s Vision, Mission, and core values.

Account Management

Manage and grow existing customer accounts while developing new business opportunities.

Maximize customer wallet share through strategic relationship development and solution‑based selling.

Achieve and exceed sales targets related to revenue, gross margin, and account growth.

Coordinate and execute sales activities with key accounts and internal teams.

Develop a deep understanding of customer operations, challenges, and growth opportunities.

Sales&Opportunity Management

Generate, manage, and close opportunities throughout the Rice sales process.

Manage leads effectively to ensure timely follow‑up and conversion.

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date customer and opportunity records within CRM systems.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to sales processes and workflow optimization.

Prepare annual sales forecasts and contribute to budgeting activities.

Conduct business reviews and develop strategic sales plans aligned with company objectives.

Gather and communicate market intelligence to support pricing, marketing, and strategic decisions.

Qualifications&Skills: What You Bring

Strong business acumen with the ability to develop territory strategies and forecast sales opportunities.

Proven ability to identify opportunities, generate leads, cold call, and successfully close business.

Experience managing major accounts and building relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.

Results‑oriented with strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.

Ability to interpret technical requirements and support customers with product specifications and design considerations.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.

Education&Experience

Business degree or diploma preferred.

Minimum 4 years of experience utilizing professional sales methodologies such as Sandler, SPIN, or Miller Heiman.

Minimum 2 years of experience working with CRM, ERP, or OMS systems.

Previous experience within related target markets, product lines, or industry sectors is considered an asset.

Proven success executing sales strategies and achieving measurable growth.

Additional Requirements

Frequent travel is required, often involving several hours of driving per day.

Valid driver’s license required.

Competitive Salary Competitive salary ranging from $70,000-$90,000 per year plus uncapped commission, OTE $130,000 plus per year.
