Mechanical Contractor seeking a motivated Mechanical Coordinator / Junior Project Manager for residential and commercial projects in Vancouver. Salary $80,000-$100,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.
The Mechanical Coordinator / Junior Project Manager will organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. They will be responsible for overall project performance, including the management of costs, schedule, qualities, and overall project status, while maintaining excellent relationships with trades, subcontractors, and clients. Emphasis is placed on reporting and monitoring progress, planning and scheduling, and dealing with project changes under the direction of the Division Manager.
Role andResponsibilities of Mechanical Coordinator:
The Mechanical Coordinator will support the Project Manager by creating and maintaining project files and coordinating with Site Superintendents
Provide accurate and timely job management by coordinating subcontractor, job structure, cost estimate, and project management information
Facilitate field reviews throughout the duration of the project
Assist accounts payable/receivable to ensure accurate project tracking and invoicing
To plan, in conjunction with the Division Manager, to execute mechanical projects in accordance with Corporate Policy
Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships
Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates to JDE
Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
The Mechanical Coordinator will manage the implementation of quality control programs
Represent company on matters such as business services and union matters
Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
Hire and supervise the activities of union labour, subcontractors and subordinate staff
Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk, update WIP report and correct deficiencies
The Mechanical Coordinator will help the Project Manager manage the implementation of Company and legislated Health and Safety Programs, including Tool Box meetings, safety procedures, and compliance to PPE
Solicit and submit shop drawings between vendors and owners for approval
Prepare operation maintenance manuals
Maintain document control as per Division standard using Procore
Material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs
Co-ordinate and manage various small&large projects
Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above
Required skills of Mechanical Coordinator
A university degree in engineering or a college diploma in construction technology
Extensive experience as tradesman may substitute for post‑secondary education requirements
Several years of experience in the construction industry, including experience as a supervisor or field superintendent
Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
Thorough knowledge of Computer Estimating Programs is an asset
Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
The Mechanical Coordinator will be self‑directed and proactive with a bias for action
Proficient knowledge and understanding of: Construction scheduling, planning, execution, business operations processes
Excellent organization and time management skills
Available to travel
Due to many mandatory vaccination requirements at client projects / facilities, in order to provide substantial employment by ensuring compliance with our clients mandates, the successful candidate may be required to validate full vaccination prior to hire.
