About the job

Working as part of a diverse and dynamic team, you will provide probation, parole and conditional sentence services to adult offenders, investigate and gather information to prepare reports ordered by the Courts and the Ontario Parole Board, enhance community safety by monitoring and enforcing conditions of court orders, assess criminogenic risk and needs, and develop offender case management plans. You will help offenders make positive changes through interventions, skills building, cognitive-behavioural counselling, referrals, programming and motivational interviewing. You will liaise with victims and build relationships with diverse justice partners and Indigenous communities and organizations.Responsibilities

Mandatory requirements

Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminology or equivalent with five years of relevant experience in social services or corrections involving assessment and structured interventions Ability to travel regularly, including remote locations, via air and overnight stays Applied social work expertise

Counselling and motivational interviewing experience Relationship-building to counsel and guide offenders Experience in offender-focused case management Experience delivering structured individual and group interventions Ability to gather data for comprehensive assessments Ability to interpret assessment information to identify risk, need and responsivityStrong decision-making expertise

Professional discretion to make timely decisions aligned with supervision strategies and legislation Ability to set clear expectations for accountability and address risk mitigation Communication and interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills supporting a diverse, inclusive workplace Administrative components of case management, including documentation and deadlines Verbal and written communication with colleagues, offenders, victims and partners Ability to present information clearly and professionally Experience working with Indigenous offenders

Understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma and Indigenous needs Ability to integrate culturally appropriate services and interventions Don't meet every qualification?
