Description
Position Overview Mechanical Designer– responsible for design and optimization of layout for heavy industrial projects across mining, metals, and industrial infrastructure systems. The role will be located in a Canadian office, with preference for a Northern Ontario office.
Responsibilities
Prepare 3‑D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilities.
Prepare process flow diagrams.
Prepare design sketches.
Prepare design calculations and design briefs.
Prepare standard details.
Prepare trade‑off studies and reports.
Assist in checking vendor documentation.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standards.
Provide input to departmental support tasks such as maintenance and revision of equipment libraries, department standards, and procedures.
Qualifications
College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design, specifically with layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and piping installation requirements in the field.
Consulting experience.
Proven experience with AVEVA E3D, Plant3D, Revit, MicroStation, SolidEdge, and SmartPlant.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
French language skills (written and verbal) are an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering.
Strong critical‑thinking skills and ability to solve problems effectively.
Ability to work well in a team and as an individual contributor.
Compensation BC, AB, SK, NWT
NU: $77,400– $102,500
MB
ON: $70,600– $97,200
Atlantic Provinces&QC: $69,900– $92,900
