Staff Accountant, Tecumseh

Senior Accountant– Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting financial and management reporting in a project-based environment. This position will have an in depth understanding of the ERP system and its interdependencies between modules. This role involves handling day-to-day accounting activities, analyzing project results, preparing reconciliations and financial reports, completing month end close processes and ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, tax regulations and accounting standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity and internal controls.

Responsibilities

Extract, analyze, and validate financial and operational data from the ERP systems and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Oracle accounting modules.

Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations and support month-end/ year-end closing processes.

Analyze project costs and overruns, work in progress schedules and project profitability.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and reports.

Assist with the annual budgeting process and complete variance analysis of company results against budget.

Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.

Identify process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of accounting processes.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and internal controls.

Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to management as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction or project-based environments.

Proficiency with Oracle or other large ERP solutions is preferred.

Advanced Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
