Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) - Permanent We are inviting applications for a Permanent Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE). The DECE reports to the Principal and partners with the classroom teacher to plan and implement learning programs enhancing our students’ cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. This position provides supervision and age‑appropriate learning programs for students.
This Permanent position will be available on September 3, 2026 at Jeanne Sauvé School, Stratford, Ontario and works 35 hours Monday‑Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to deal with difficult situations and take appropriate action in stressful and/or emergency situations, according to policies and procedures
Proven commitment to maintaining confidentiality
Experience planning and implementing age‑appropriate programs
Extensive knowledge of the Ministry of Education Early Learning Program and related legislation
Ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive and courteous manner with children, parents, staff, and the general public
Basic computer skills, strong organization and time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate
Qualifications
A minimum of a two (2) year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field is required.
Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (OCECE)
A minimum of two (2) years experience working in a school, early learning center, educational setting or registered childcare is required.
Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) training is an asset.
Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full day early learning program
Demonstrated experience with age‑appropriate programs
Knowledge of the early acquisition of literacy and numerical skills
Experience with classroom management
Good verbal and written communication skills
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work closely with students with complex needs
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
Computer skills including Google Workspace.
Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
