Alberta Intermediate Biologist Position, Sherwood Park West

Vertex is looking for an Intermediate Vegetation Biologist in Sherwood Park or Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role involves extensive fieldwork focused on vegetation and soil assessments within challenging environments.

The suitable candidate will have a strong background in botany and ecology, with 3-5 years of experience in the field. You will be responsible for collecting and managing vegetation data, while also collaborating with the team on various project needs. Proficiency in plant identification and technical writing is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:• Conduct field surveys assessing vegetation and soils • Manage data collection and produce comprehensive reports • Create and analyze maps and geospatial information • Ensure compliance with safety protocols • Support interdisciplinary projects, including wildlife and soil assessments

Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or related field • 3-5 years field experience in vegetation biology • Strong plant identification skills required • Familiarity with navigation and GIS programs • Ability to travel extensively within Western Canada
