Sandvik Mining, Ground Support Division Production Operator
Ground Support Division, Sandvik Mining, is a leading global supplier of ground support solutions for the mining and construction industry. Primary Responsibilities
Under general direction, responsible for the set‑up, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes.
Follow established procedures for operating various conventional and/or CNC (computerized numerical control) manufacturing equipment.
Select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
Resolve issues related to the organization’s production, machinery, processing, and/or packaging operations.
Inspect machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools.
Determine and correct minor machine malfunctions and perform simple routine maintenance and cleaning.
Maintain safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements. Contribute to the manufacturing of components and finished products.
Perform general labor duties and other assigned tasks.
Safety&Compliance
Comply with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
Maintain orderly work area and ensure housekeeping requirements are met.
Attend environmental, health and safety related training.
Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.
Qualifications
Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
Previous related experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken English.
Ability to read and understand basic instructions provided in written or drawing form.
Good mathematical skills and ability to accurately read/understand a tape measure (metric/standard).
Understanding of common workplace safety and environmental practices.
Ability to meet attendance and punctuality requirements.
Ability to work shift work.
Physical ability to continually handle objects weighing up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Operational forklift experience would be an asset.
Education
Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
