This position will be responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and control of assigned capital and expense projects, ensuring they are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The role provides technical support on engineering matters, including consistent review and approval of Management of Change (MOC) activities. It further supports coordination across production, maintenance, technical, capital investment, EHS, and quality functions.

Leading capital and expense projects from scoping through execution, applying engineering standards, calculations, and technical specifications to deliver safe, compliant, on-time, and on-budget results.

Managing project selection, implementation, and operational readiness by prioritizing requests, controlling budgets, schedules, contractors, change orders, reporting, and invoices, and supporting SOP updates for new installations or process changes.

Coordinating production, construction, and outage activities with site leadership, production scheduling, and stakeholders to minimize disruption and maintain throughput, quality, and customer commitments.

Supporting safe and reliable operations by troubleshooting process upsets, contributing to process safety and operational readiness reviews, and partnering with Quality Operations to translate requirements into compliant operating and testing practices.

Leading engineering governance and compliance processes by owning Management of Change reviews, ensuring approvals before startup, and incorporating environmental requirements into designs and project execution.

Maintaining safe, audit-ready engineering systems by supporting Responsible Care programs and keeping drawings and technical documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical single lines, current and accurate.

Providing day-to-day leadership support by coaching engineering students, assigning and reviewing work, and offering feedback to support development and project delivery.

Maintaining operational continuity and team alignment by providing production supervision coverage when needed and actively participating in production and engineering meetings to support communication and coordination.

If you have...

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Systems Engineering.

Registered membership of APEGS with P.Eng. designation, or Engineer in Training actively progressing toward P.Eng. licensure.

3–5 years of experience in manufacturing processes; chemical process experience or specialization considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience in project management and contracting.

Awareness of automation and control systems in a production environment (asset).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP and CAD is an asset.

Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations (CSA, API, ASME) and relevant government safety and environmental regulations.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and planning abilities.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and work effectively in dynamic or fluid situations.

Ability to influence and manage without formal authority, fostering positive and collaborative working relationships.
