Electrical Engineering Technologist– Red Deer, Alberta

Responsibilities

The primary function of the Electrical Technologist will be to design, install, maintain, program, configure and troubleshoot electrical machinery, controls, industrial automation and data acquisition systems. Receive and/or prepare wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation and inspection work.Analyze all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment, determine material or replacement needs and select a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems. Plan details or working procedures to achieve the most logical approach to the job. Plan and perform work requiring specification codes, material properties, and principles of operation and application of equipment.Locate source of trouble for any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation. Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust or replace faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc.Replace coils, resistors, relays and rheostats, etc. Program and configure automation controllers such as PLCs, robotic controllers, variable frequency drives, DC drives, etc. Requirements

Electrical engineering technologist diploma. Red Seal Journeyman Electrician preferred. 1–5 years working in an industrial manufacturing environment. Experience with electrical controls, transmitters, valves, drives, temperature measuring devices and programmable logic controllers and automation software.Willingness to work shift work (days and nights). Strong communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Good problem solving and analytical skills. Benefits
