From water to wire– Be part of the movement!

The electrical supervisor is responsible for all electrical installation activities on site. He is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the installation of the electrical scope of project on site. He will report to the Construction Manager and lead a team of supervisors and electricians. The electrical scope of a hydro‑electric power project will include turbine and generator (T&G) instrumentation, protections&controls and distribution equipment.

Preparation&Planning Phase

Review and understand the design and the installation scope of work.

Prepare the electrical installation plan:

Finalize man‑hours estimate.

Validate/prepares the quantities for the specified materials.

Prepare the schedule for the electrical installation scope.

Review the budget estimate and adjust as necessary.

Support preparation of the installation manuals and other installation related documents.

Prepare and optimise the electrical site staff requirements (supervision and labour).

Prepare the tooling lists and coordinate procurement.

Prepare purchase specifications and negotiate with subcontractor in coordination with Installation Coordinator and Procurement (in the case of subcontracted electrical installation).

Plan and organise temporary/construction power mobilisation.

Participate in risk assessments.

Execution Phase

Responsible for safe and cost effective execution of electrical installation works in accordance with the project schedule and quality specifications.

Lead the electrical supervisors on site.

Prepare estimates for site change orders.

Lead schedule updates, short‑term planning and progress reports for the electrical scope.

Analyse the electrical installation costs and progress, including the analysis of deviations.

Coordinate and optimise site staffing requirements (supervision and labour).

Plan and organise temporary power supply for the site.

Follow up with engineering on change requests and non‑compliance issues.

Experience on Canadian construction unionised sites, medium to large size, holding leadership roles within electrical or general contractor performing industrial electrical installation.

Five (5) to ten (10) years experience in a similar role.

Proven leadership ability within a team context.

Excellent understanding and knowledge of electrical equipment.

Excellent understanding and knowledge of Canadian electrical code CSA C22.1.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. French, an asset.

Hydro‑electric project knowledge, an asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and autonomy.

Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines.

Strong customer service orientation.Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and professional Internet browsing.

Knowledge of Primavera– P6 (an asset).

Completed electrician training with journeyman certification, Red Seal (an asset).
