About the Role

Amrize is seeking a Heavy‑Duty Mechanic for a permanent position in Nanaimo, BC. The role involves maintenance and repair of asphalt paving equipment, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, heavy haul trucks, trailers, and other construction machinery. What You’ll Accomplish

Perform maintenance and repairs on asphalt paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, and milling equipment, as well as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, heavy haul trucks, and trailer units. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they arise.Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other heavy equipment components. Replace faulty or worn‑out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques. Follow manufacturer specifications, repair manuals, and technical guidelines during all repair and maintenance activities.Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours. Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify equipment issues and provide guidance on preventive maintenance practices. Stay updated on the latest advancements in heavy equipment technology and repair techniques.Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyperson or Red Seal certification as a Heavy‑Duty Mechanic. Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery; experience with asphalt paving equipment is an asset. In‑depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality work. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and equipment operators. Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions. Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of company‑approved personal protective equipment (PPE).What We Offer
