Provides nursing care to OR patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence‑based practice in nursing practiceMaintains and advances own clinical competence Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0–37.5 hours per week on an as‑needed basis. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings rotating from 07:00 to 15:12, 11:00 to 19:12, 14:28 to 23:00, 09:00 to 17:12 hours.About this Location
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is a 75‑bed full‑service regional hospital serving 80,000 people in the Kootenay Boundary region. Surgical services include General, Orthopedic, OB/Gyne, ENT, Plastics, Urology and Ophthalmology. As a member of the KBRH Operating Room team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the clientand set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.Qualifications
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Current CPR certification required Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (perioperative nursing) and one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on an operating room similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
