Overview

Do you enjoy work where accuracy and precision directly impact safety and regulatory compliance? Do you feel confident working with specialized electronic or instrumentation equipment and troubleshooting issues independently? Our Chalk River location is looking for an Instrumentation Technologist to deliver specialized electronic and instrumentation services with the Radiation Protection Department.What you will be doing: Maintaining and calibrating radiation protection instrumentation using a variety of techniques and facilities. Producing and maintaining calibration records and reports in accordance with Quality Assurance standards. Maintaining calibration, measuring, and testing equipment and its associated records.Interacting and collaborating daily with team members, internal clients and service providers. Other duties as assigned by your manager. Qualifications

Education Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position and normally has two to three years of pertinent technological experience. OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent, and five to eight years of pertinent and progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.Experience Experience working with various Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge, Skills&Abilities Ability to work independently, conducting various tasks using a variety of instruments and techniques. Ability to work as an effective team member with administrative, professional and technical staff. Ability to respond to challenging schedule demands in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and accurate, legible data recording are essential.Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's“Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”Working Conditions

Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week. This position is part of the USW 1568 union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW 1568 Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.Auditory requirements relating to the ability to hear and assess audio signals from equipment (e.g.“Geiger counter click”). Requirement to be able to wear respiratory equipment and other PPE, including gloves and safety glasses. Why CNL?
