Maintenance Operator, Oshawa

Job Purpose In this full‑time position as a maintenance operator, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the general maintenance, preventative maintenance programs and asset management for the Oshawa Facility. The ideal candidate will work with the preventative maintenance coordinator and FacilityManager to diagnose and troubleshoot day‑to‑day equipment issues and develop maintenance programs, equipment inventory systems, and collaborate with project managers and equipment suppliers/installers. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for responding to emergency and general repairs and maintain a proactive approach towards maintenance directed by the preventative maintenance coordinator and Facility Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Implements the maintenance program based on planning/scheduling.

Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections for all facility equipment/assets.

Works with suppliers/contractors as required.

Maintains service, supplier and contractor relationships as per the values and objectives of McAsphalt.

Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment; initiates reordering when necessary.

Maintains and repairs maintenance facility equipment.

Uses JDE program to create, maintain, and close work orders.

Works with the maintenance department, including millwrights and electricians.

Assists with engineering projects as required at the Oshawa Facility.

Qualifications

Minimum High School/College Diploma.

Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with plumbing, welding, electrical, and general maintenance.

Ability to work outdoors in all environments.

Ability to work at heights.

Some knowledge of forklifts, scissor lifts, and cranes.

Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in construction.

Knowledge of production processes, pumps, piping, heat tracing, hot oil heaters, scale equipment, electrical equipment, etc.

Strong work ethic and ability to work in small teams.

Shift Information Day Shift– Monday to Friday (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM).

Working Conditions The successful candidate will be working 40+ hours per week in a fast‑paced facility setting, be on call for emergencies, and be required to work overtime. Minimal travel may be required for training purposes.

Physical Requirements The successful candidate will frequently sit, stand, lift, twist, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
