The Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies at Lakehead University invites applications for an NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Quantum Technologies.
The successful applicant will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with an anticipated starting date of January 1, 2027.
Research interests in quantum materials or quantum sensing are particularly encouraged, but we welcome a breadth of expertise in quantum technologies.
Exceptional emerging researcher with a record of significant and innovative work in quantum technologies or related fields.
Potential to achieve international recognition in the next five to ten years.
Ability to attract, develop, and retain excellent trainees, students, and future researchers.
Proposed original, innovative research program of the highest quality.
Compensation:
Associate Professor: $120,496– $170,496
Assistant Professor: $88,094– $133,223
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Lakehead University Faculty Association (LUFA) Collective Agreement and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
CRC Eligibility:
Tier 2 CRCs are for exceptional emerging researchers who are generally less than ten years from their first independent academic appointment.
Lakehead University may nominate a candidate beyond this period if career interruptions are documented under the categories outlined here.
Eligible candidates for Tier 2 must also be eligible for an assistant or associate professor appointment.
