Summary
Mt Seymour’s Eco-Adventure Camp provides wilderness-based day camp programs for children aged 5-12. Our experiential camps engage kids in nature education, wilderness survival skills, and personal growth. This full‑time seasonal position will be part of a small dynamic team that oversees Mt Seymour’s Summer Camp Programs and a team of Outdoor Education Guides. The position can extend into the winter to assist with Mt Seymour’s winter programming and guided snowshoe tours.Responsibilities
Train, support and supervise summer program instructors and volunteers. Develop and implement programming. Supervise day‑to‑day operations of summer programs, including overseeing opening or closing procedures when the Outdoor Education Manager is not present onsite. Prepare weekly reports and organize camp groups by Friday at 10:00AM in advance of each upcoming camp session.Communicate with parents and guardians, both in person and over the phone, to assist with camp groupings, medical and behavioural needs, and general inquiries. Communicate effectively with the Guest Experience team regarding booking changes. Ensure all summer instructors complete end‑of‑day reports accurately and on time.Respond to all inbox inquiries within 2 days in a timely and professional manner. Coordinate and distribute camp T‑shirts, ensuring all campers receive them by Day2 of each weekly session. Step in for absent instructors as needed. Assist with other tasks required to help facilitate the smooth running of programs.Handle potential stressful situations calmly and effectively. Inspect overall cleanliness of buildings and keep safety as the number one concern. Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Manage inventory of supplies and report reordering to manager. Provide all necessary clothing for protection against the natural elements and work outside in a mountain environment for 8 hours.Qualifications and Experience
Completed or in progress of a degree or diploma in a field of study such as Education, Recreation, Biology, Environmental Sciences. Robust experience and knowledge of wilderness skills, safety and etiquette. Minimum 2‑year supervisory experience. Minimum 2‑year experience leading groups of children and adults.Program development experience with a foundation in interpretive and experiential education. Knowledge of local natural history. Class5 driver’s licence (preferred). Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification (required). Valid Advanced First Aid is an asset (formerly OFA3). Deliver first aid treatment to camp participants or staff members if required within scope.A big love for the outdoors and sharing it with others. Exemplifies social and environmental responsibility, safety awareness, flexibility, sense of humour and a passion for continuous learning and mentorship. Enthusiastic, energetic and positive attitude. General Requirements
Sustain physical activity for 8 working hours per day over variable terrain. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30pounds for up to 8 working hours per day. Ability to successfully navigate interactions with children (explaining Camper’s Code of Conduct). Available to work Monday–Friday. Available for entire summer camp duration (June292026 – September42026).Must be willing to complete a criminal record check. Must be willing to supervise children travelling to and from camp on our shuttles. What We Offer
