Role ProfilePosition: Production TechnicianJob Location: Nanaimo, BCJob Type: Full-TimeStatus: Non-ExemptSummary of the RoleThis position is responsible for a variety of tasks that are manufacturing or distribution based and may include assembling and manufacturing sales orders, picking products from the warehouse, shipping, and receiving .ResponsibilitiesMust maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and proceduresAssembles products to company, customer and manufacturer’s standardsPerforms all product testing to quality standards as required by the customer and per company work instructionReceives incoming shipments into inventory, posts in online system and places items in warehousePicks product in warehouse and prepares items for delivery or shippingOperates mechanical equipment, hand tools, forklifts and picking lifts (if applicable)Assists with physical inventoryMakes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvementsPerform other duties as trained and qualified forSkills and AbilitiesApplicants should possess the ability tointeract with team members in a professional mannerMust have good communication skillsRequires basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measureBasic mechanical skills including the use of hand toolsBasic computer skills preferred, including email and internetMinimum QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or older1-3 years of related warehousing or production experienceA high school diploma or GEDReliable transportation is a mustAbility to safely drive a Company truck or other mechanical equipmentAbility to work nights and weekends, as requiredAbility to work overtime, as requiredBackground checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)Preferred QualificationsIndustrial setting experiencePhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a production and warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to a range of environmental conditions. These include fluctuating temperatures (both hot and cold), varying noise levels, exposure to dust, and other typical elements of an active industrial environment .
