Temporary Educational Assistant II– Sunningdale School

Location: Sunningdale School Responsibilities

Provide personal care assistance to students, including dressing, undressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, food preparation, and feeding. Perform physically demanding tasks, including the restraining of students who become violent toward staff or peers. Carry out non‑invasive para‑medical functions such as stoma care, seizure care, and in‑lying catheterization under guidance from parents, guardians, and medical personnel.Use adaptive technology and augmentative communication devices under the direction of a Speech Language Pathologist or other qualified staff. Address students’ physiotherapeutic needs, such as walker, three‑wheel bicycle, standing frame, and roll seats. Operate wheelchair mobility management programs (power wheelchairs) as outlined by Occupational Therapists.Assist and supervise life skills activities within the school setting, e.g., cook programs. Handle physically challenging tasks and use a personal vehicle to transport students when required. Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Grade12 diploma from a recognized educational institution or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate approved by the Board of Education. At least one year of post‑secondary training related to student needs, such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Development, Youth Worker, or Rehabilitation Worker, from a recognized institution approved by the Employer.Relationship with National Vocational and Community Institutions (NVCI) and Trauma and Loss Recovery (TLR) training if required. Minimum of two years of experience providing direct personal care and a valid Class5 driver’s license. Physical Requirements

Ability to perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and up to 20lbs. of force constantly to lift students and/or move objects. Wage&Benefits

Pay in accordance with the CUPE Local5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement, ranging from $23.97 to $29.09 per hour.
