Temporary Educational Assistant II

Location: Ecole Palliser Heights School. Start Date: September 2, 2026. End Date: June 25, 2027. FTE: 1.0. Hours: 6.0 per day. Responsibilities

Provide personal care assistance to students including dressing, undressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, food preparation and feeding, and other health and personal care needs. Perform physically demanding tasks, including, in extreme circumstances, restraining students who have become violent towards staff or students.Perform non‑invasive para‑medical functions (e.g., stoma care, seizure care, in‑lying catheterization care) under the direction of parents, guardians and medical personnel. Utilize adaptive technology, adaptive devices, and augmentative communication devices under the direction of a Speech Language Pathologist or other professional staff.Attend to physiotherapeutic needs of the student (e.g., walker, three‑wheel bicycle, standing frame, roll seats). Use wheelchair mobility management program (power wheelchairs) as outlined by Occupational Therapists. Assist and supervise life skills activities within the school setting (e.g., cook program).Handle physically challenging tasks. May use personal vehicle to transport students. Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 diploma or GED, approved by the Board of Education, or a recognized educational institution. Minimum of one year post‑secondary training related to student needs such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Development, Youth Worker or Rehabilitation Worker, from a recognized institution.NVCI and TLR training if required. Minimum of two years experience in providing direct personal care. Valid Class 5 drivers license. ASL Level 3 proficiency required. Physical Requirements

The ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, or 20 lbs. constantly to lift students and/or move objects. Compensation

Hourly wage range: $23.97 to $29.09, in accordance with the CUPE Local 5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
