Opportunity As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our Mine Process&Mine Infrastructure group, you will shape the systems and infrastructure that power Canada’s most complex industrial and mining environments. From optimizing process plant layouts to advancing mechanical excellence on major brownfield and greenfield programs, your expertise will directly influence safe, sustainable, and high‑performing operations across Canada and internationally.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering for industrial and mining plant facilities, including material handling systems, pumping systems, piping networks, and equipment layouts.
Deliver and review high‑quality engineering outputs—calculations, specifications, datasheets, technical reports, and drawing packages.
Steward technical integration across process, structural, electrical, and civil discipline teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
Mentor and guide intermediate and junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and excellence.
Partner with clients, vendors, and contractors to support equipment selection, procurement, constructability planning, and commissioning success.
Conduct and participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, field engineering assessments, and constructability evaluations.
Champion compliance with industry codes, standards, and WSP quality systems.
Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and identification of engineering risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and active P.Eng. (or eligibility).
10–15 years of progressive experience with a strong focus on industrial or mining plant design.
Expertise in process plants, mine infrastructure, material handling systems, plant layouts, and rotating/static equipment.
Experience working within both brownfield and greenfield environments.
Proven ability to lead mechanical design independently while providing technical leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
Comfort working closely with clients in dynamic, fast‑paced project environments.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK&YT:
$122,900– $162,800
MB&ON:
$112,100– $154,400
NB, NL, NS, PEI&QC:
$111,000– $147,400
