Personal Support Worker (PSW) (Milton)

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and highly dependable Support Worker to provide consistent, one-on-one care for a client with advanced dementia in a home care setting. This role requires a deep understanding of dementia care and the importance of routine, familiarity, and trust. The ideal candidate will be committed to working with one dedicated client on a consistent basis, as continuity of care is essential to prevent confusion, distress, or behavioral triggers. Provide consistent, one-on-one care to a single client with advanced dementia Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Support safe mobility, transfers, and repositioning while minimizing distress Follow structured daily routines to maintain familiarity and reduce anxietyMonitor and respond to behavioral changes with calm, patient, and reassuring techniques Assist with meal preparation and feeding, accommodating dietary needs and preferences Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, secure, and stable environment Offer companionship and emotional reassurance, fostering trust through continuityDocument care activities and communicate any changes clearly with the care team or family Apply dementia-specific care approaches to ensure comfort, dignity, and safety Skills&Requirements

Proven experience in dementia care, particularly with advanced-stage clients Strong understanding of behavioral triggers and de-escalation techniques Ability to maintain consistency, patience, and emotional stability in care delivery Commitment to working with one client long-term to preserve routine and familiarityExperience with mobility support and safe lifting techniques Excellent communication skills and a calm, reassuring presence Ability to work independently while following a structured care plan Reliability and consistency are critical for success in this role Experience in home care, assisted living, or nursing settings is preferredRole Importance
