Continuous Improvement Engineer– Logistics
Location: Milton, Ontario Reports To: Site Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Role Overview
The Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across a third‑party logistics (3PL) site. This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities, reduce waste, enhance service performance, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across warehouse and transportation operations.The role requires strong analytical capability, hands‑on process engineering experience, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in a rapid‑paced, 24×7 logistics environment. Key Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement&Process Optimization
Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies. Identify, analyze, and improve end‑to‑end logistics processes including receiving, put‑away, picking, packing, shipping, cross‑dock, and transportation flows. Facilitate value stream mapping, time studies, root cause analysis (RCA), and Kaizen events across multiple sites.Standardize best practices across facilities while balancing client‑specific requirements. Data Analysis&Performance Management
Analyze operational KPIs (productivity, cost, quality, service, safety) to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities. Develop dashboards, reports, and business cases to quantify benefits (cost savings, service improvement, capacity gains). Track benefits realization and sustainability of implemented initiatives.Change Management&Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with site leadership and frontline teams to implement process changes with minimal disruption to operations. Provide hands‑on coaching to supervisors and managers on CI tools and problem‑solving techniques. Support adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies through structured change management.Systems, Technology&Innovation
Collaborate with IT and Engineering on WMS, TMS, LMS, and automation initiatives. Support system implementations, process design, and go‑live stabilization from an operational excellence perspective. Explore and evaluate emerging technologies and best practices applicable to 3PL operations. Safety, Quality&Compliance
Ensure process improvements align with Ontario Health&Safety (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), and company policies. Embed safety, ergonomics, and quality considerations into all process designs. Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement related to safety and compliance. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related discipline. 3–7+ years of continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or operations excellence experience in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or distribution. Strong working knowledgeof Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.Experience supporting large, labor‑intensive operations (high‑volume, multi‑shift, or 24×7 environments). Advanced data analysis skills (Excel required; Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python an asset). Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence without authority.Preferred / Asset Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Experience in a national or multi‑site 3PL or supply chain environment. Hands‑on experience with WMS, TMS, or labor management systems. Experience supporting automation, robotics, or warehouse layout/design projects. Familiarity with Canadian occupational health&safety regulations and labor standards. Key Competencies
Analytical and structured problem solver Strong business acumen with cost‑to‑serve understanding Change agent mindset with high emotional intelligence Comfortable working on the floor and engaging frontline teams Able to manage multiple projects across different sites and timelines Working Conditions
Travel between Ontario sites as required (estimated 20–40%) Combination of office, warehouse, and on‑site operational environments Flexible schedule to support off‑shift or weekend improvement initiatives when required Compensation
Base salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per annum, plus bonus
