Job Summary The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for dispensing duties including prescription entry/processing, picking, packaging, shipping medications, answering calls, accounts receivables, inventory maintenance, compounding (where permitted), and other administrative tasks as required.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here)

Accurate processing of prescriptions for all programs/medications, including following up on insurance billing issues with third‑party payers/patient support programs.

Provide exemplary customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians primarily by phone/email.

Label, pick, and package prescriptions in accordance with SOPs to ensure safe, efficient, accurate supply to patients.

Adhere to all relevant guidelines including SOPs and regulatory requirements as mandated by the Provincial College of Pharmacists.

Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications.

Actively contribute to the ongoing review of pharmacy policies and procedures.

Inventory management and reconciliation– ordering, maintaining, and organizing inventory and packaging supplies for dispensing.

Monitor on‑site temperatures and report any variances directly to the Director of Pharmacy.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with health‑care professionals, reimbursement coordinators, private payers, and patients.

Prepare medications for shipping, including packing into cold‑chain coolers.

Arrange accurately for delivery services/couriers so prescriptions are received on time by patients/clinics.

Call patients to schedule refill of medications.

Attend and participate in staff meetings.

Assist with other duties assigned by pharmacist and/or manager within scope of practice.

What you need to ensure you are set up for success

Minimum 1–2 years experience in a pharmacy setting.

Experience with Kroll preferred.

Knowledge of specialty medications and third‑party billing issues is an asset.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; proficiency in French is an asset.

Strong computer skills in Windows using MS Office (Excel, Word).

Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Proven ability to self‑manage time, set priorities, and multitask to meet competing deadlines.

Ability to perform dispensing duties and physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.

Self‑starting and independent.
