To support true healing, we are committed to understanding these challenges, learning from Indigenous knowledge, and taking action together to improve safe and equitable health care for current and future generations.Who you are:You encompass Oak Valley Health’s core values and live the words of respect, trust, commitment, compassion and courageYou are a patient and/or client centered individual who performs at an exemplary standardYou are a team player with excellent communication, critical thinking and prioritization skillsWhat we are looking for:Asa member of our interprofessional team, you will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment, education and counseling to adult inpatients with swallowing and communication impairments within the subacute and acute stroke patient population - in addition to the support of a variety of subacute and acute medicine, and rehab adult populations within Markham Stouffville Hospital.You will also have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing program development and quality improvement activities.What you bring to the role:Masters degree in Speech Language PathologyCurrent registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of OntarioPreference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years recent experience with dysphagia and communication disorders in a subacute and/or acute medical environment ( ALC, general medicine, neurology, and stroke rehab patient populations)Proficiency with videofluoroscopic swallow studies; MBSImP certificationRecent experience with treatment/management of speech, language, and cognitive communication disordersExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional developmentDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredWork Schedule:8 hour shifts, 7.5 hours Monday - Friday with some week-endsPlease note schedules may change due to operational needs.Compensation:OPCOM13Range:$48.59 - $61.91Whowe are:Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario’s leading community healthcare organizations.
