Financial Shared Services Representative Markham, ON, Canada
Job Description BGIS is a leading provider of customized facility management and real estate services, managing over 320 million square feet of client portfolios across 30,000+ locations worldwide. We seek a Financial Shared Services Representative to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable payments.
Responsibilities
Process accounts payable payments in accordance with established procedures.
Communicate with suppliers and stakeholders to follow up, clarify information, or resolve disputes; escalates to management where required.
Liaise with business unit leaders to obtain approval for payments.
Handle scanned documentation with low data recognition and enter missing data.
Review documents for compliance and completeness against established requirements; identify non‑compliant items and missing information and obtain data to ensure compliance.
Determine appropriate accounting codes for the documents according to business unit and expense/cost element type.
Perform mathematical calculations (additions, subtractions, multiplication, divisions) to verify accuracy; identify errors and liaise with appropriate stakeholders for resolution; escalates where required.
Validate accounts payable documentation against supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve issues and discrepancies in transactional accounting; liaise with stakeholders and management for resolution.
Handle validation, matching, coding and approval exceptions; liaise with business unit leaders to obtain approval exceptions.
Prepare electronic fund transfers and cheques for payments.
Enter accounts payable transactions into accounting systems.
Complete vendor set‑up requisitions and work with Supply Chain Administration to complete vendor set‑up.
Audit support: file, maintain and retrieve documentation for audit purposes.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications&Knowledge
Community college diploma, preferably in accounting.
1–3 years of clerical accounting or accounts payable experience.
Understanding of sales tax rules.
Ability to execute work according to established procedures.
Ability to identify and resolve accounts payable issues and discrepancies.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and identify inaccuracies in data.
Ability to process a high volume of data with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with others for data exchange, clarification, and dispute resolution.
Ability to exercise judgment.
Proficient with accounting systems, MS Office Excel, and other MS Office applications; ability to learn new information systems and software quickly.
Desire to attain professional accreditation such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPA) or Certified General Accounting.
Compensation Contract, full‑time position. Salary range: $44,303 – $52,121 per annum, based on competencies and experience.
