Internship Overview The Advanced Analytics / Data Scientist co‑op student will join a small cross‑functional team focused on delivering proofs of concept (PoCs) and minimum viable products (MVPs) using data science and programming skills. You will become a hands‑on subject‑matter expert in advanced analytics and machine learning, applying your skills to real business problems in areas such as optimization, predictive analytics, and MLOps. You will work with cutting‑edge technologies including Databricks, AWS cloud, and open‑source libraries and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities While the day‑to‑day work is determined by project needs, you will be engaged in:

Building and testing machine‑learning models for clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation, and optimization on large‑scale datasets.

Transforming and merging disparate internal and external data sources to create new features.

Deploying machine‑learning solutions using tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Kubernetes.

Visualizing data insights with tools like Tableau, Plotly, Power BI, or similar.

Partnering with stakeholders to translate business challenges into analytical solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

Eligible to work in Canada.

Enrolled in a Canadian university throughout the internship.

Will be able to work on‑site in the province where hired, if applicable.

Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer or Software Engineering, Information Systems, or similar discipline.

Strong analytical, business, and problem‑solving skills with an agile mindset.

Excellent professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.

Programming experience with Python (preferred), Spark, or similar language.

Proficiency in machine‑learning techniques for clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation, and optimization on large datasets.

Track record of merging and transforming disparate data sets to create new features.

Experience deploying machine‑learning solutions is a plus.

Experience with data‑science libraries and frameworks such as Jupyter Notebooks, Scikit‑learn, Pandas, Spark, and development tools like GitHub, Azure DevOps, REST, CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes.

Familiarity with data‑visualization tools (Tableau, Plotly, Power BI, etc.) preferred.
