Your Opportunity:
In keeping with Alberta Health Services Mission Statement and Values, and as an integral member of the Environmental Services Team, the Environmental Services staff is responsible for routine cleaning, collection of general waste, and upkeep of the facility, as well as all detailed or special cleanings in areas such as operating rooms, pharmacy, etc. Environmental Services staff must follow IPC standards and are responsible for performing other related duties as required. Their daily routines produce a clean, safe, comfortable workplace for patients, residents, visitors, and staff. They maintain confidentiality and are respectful and compassionate in all interactions. They participate in training and orientation of new staff and perform other duties as required, with minimal supervision in a busy, fast‑paced environment.Description:
Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming. Restocking supplies in bathroom facilities. Stripping linens and making beds. Operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration. Washing ceilings and windows thoroughly. Emptying hazardous waste. Replenishing cleaning supplies and linens.Additional responsibilities include identifying and reporting potential hazards to the Working Leader, and providing training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff. Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements during shifts. Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs of force. Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Requires moderate to heavy physical exertion, including repetitive and/or long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, or lifting. Required to wear PPE for long periods (face mask, eye protection, gloves, gowns, etc.).Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Grade12 or equivalent. Ability to work holidays/weekends and a variety of shift times. Previous cleaning experience. Ability to clean in isolation areas (ED, OR, ICU, NICU, etc.). WHMIS certificate.
