We are currently looking for an

HSE Coordinator, Systems&Assurance

to join our team in Nisku, AB. The HSE Coordinator, Systems&Assurance plays a critical role in strengthening the company’s safety culture and advancing HSE systems across the organization.

This position supports corporate and field operations by identifying emerging best practices, assessing new tools and strategies, and helping implement practical solutions that reduce risk and improve performance. Through program development, data analysis, reporting, and audits, the HSE Coordinator delivers actionable insights that support governance, compliance, and effective risk management.

Responsibilities

Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture by communicating clear expectations, identifying hazards, and supporting the timely correction of unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviours.

Analyze leading and lagging HSE indicators to identify trends and critical risks and provide actionable recommendations to improve performance.

Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations on HSE performance, risk, and compliance for leaders, committees, and operational teams.

Plan and conduct internal audits and support external audits; track, validate, and verify corrective and preventive actions to completion.

Conduct targeted field visits to assess the effectiveness and usability of HSE programs and procedures.

Oversee local office, shop, and yard safety programs, including inspections, incident investigations, regular safety meetings, and written directives such as Emergency Response Plans and Job Hazard Analyses.

Maintain HSE management system documentation and document control requirements, including templates, standards, and procedures, to support consistency and accessibility across the organization.

Provide HSE deliverables for bids and project start-up, including plans, reporting expectations, and checklists, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and client requirements.

Conduct gap assessments against internal standards, client expectations, and industry best practices, and develop action plans to address identified gaps.

Collaborate with Corporate HSE and operational leaders to plan and deliver HSE initiatives, communications, and continuous improvement projects aligned with organizational objectives.

Gather feedback from field teams and translate it into practical system and program improvements.

Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of HSE programs, standards, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory, client, and corporate requirements.

Ensure HSE programs are fit for purpose, user-friendly, and scalable across projects and provinces.

Support continuous improvement initiatives, including pilot programs for new tools, technologies, and processes, as well as roll-out strategies for new or revised HSE programs.

Create supporting materials, including guides, toolkits, and presentations, to build understanding and drive adoption.

Prepare and lead monthly HSE team presentations.

Requirements

A post-secondary education in Occupational Health&Safety or a related field and minimum 5-years relevant experience.

NCSO certification required; Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation is considered an asset.

Training and experience in incident investigation, including methodologies such as DNV SCAT, TapRooT, and similar.

Training in Energy-Based Safety and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP).

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.

Willingness to travel occasionally, as required.
