Hiring multiple positions– Community and Protective Services Division – Hours of work: up to 29 hours per week (Internal/External). Join our aquatics team as a Lifeguard II and work with a diverse and collaborative group dedicated to promoting well‑being in our community. Located 35 minutes south of Edmonton and 55 minutes north of Red Deer, the City of Wetaskiwin provides an urban‑rural lifestyle.Responsibilities

Provide the highest standard of lifeguarding, including effective scanning, patrolling, and professionalism in a team setting. Deliver instruction of swimming techniques, strokes, water safety, and lifesaving skills. Act as Shift Supervisor when no Lifeguard III is on shift. Assist instructors with lessons when required.Respond appropriately to first‑aid treatment and emergency situations. Conduct opening, closing, and provincial water tests. Supervise emergency situations, perform first aid, and complete required documentation. Prevent incidents through enforcement of policies, public education, safety surveillance, and routine inspections.Provide exceptional customer service by promoting positive patron relations and addressing concerns. Complete assigned maintenance tasks such as cleaning pool decks and changing rooms. Perform basic operational tasks to maintain regular facility operation. Complete necessary mechanical and operational checklists, charts, forms, and accident/near‑miss reports.Set up and take down equipment according to facility schedule. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, being prompt and prepared for each shift. Other duties as required. Qualifications

Minimum 18 years old. Minimum 2 years lifeguarding experience. Current certifications: National Lifeguard (NL), Workplace Approved Intermediate First Aid (IFA), Swim Instructor (SI), Lifesaving Instructor (LSI). Asset: AARFP Pool Operator 1 certification. Asset: Additional instructor certification (e.g., Lifesaving Sport Coach 1, First Aid Instructor, NL Instructor, Lifesaving Society Trainer).Proof of certification and Lifesaving Society Member ID # required before consideration. Experience supervising staff is an asset. Skills&Abilities

Excellent customer service skills. Ability to teach, provide constructive feedback, and support swimming skill development. Capable of working within and leading a lifeguard team. Competent in performing and leading first aid procedures. Committed to continuous learning and skill improvement. Ability to respond to emergency situations and perform under stress.Strong initiative, creativity, and integrity. Physical Requirements

Light effort requiring standing, walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, manual dexterity, visual acuity, balance, depth perception, and lifting up to 20 lbs. Benefits
