Overview An opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work to their full scope of practice and provide patient‑ and family‑centered care at Wetaskiwin Hospital&Care Centre.
As an LPN, you will float among three Medical Units (Unit 33, Unit 35, and Unit 43), supporting patients with acute and complex chronic illnesses and occasional surgical patients. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, working within the college standards and the organization’s values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy.

Responsibilities
Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the nursing process.
Provide safe, effective, and efficient care within all departments, adhering to CLHA standards of practice.
Act as a patient advocate, linking patients to other units and interdisciplinary team members.
Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
Support units with telemetry monitoring and palliative suites where applicable.
Adapt to varying environments as part of a float pool, ensuring continuity of care across units.
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
Active or eligible registration and practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with CLHA.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support– Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP).
Minimum two (2) years employment as an LPN in acute care during the past three (3) years.
Proficiency in all forms of medication administration, blood products, and related procedures.
Experience working with palliative care patients and complex chronic conditions.
Competence with Connect Care, MS Office Suite, TEAM’s, and Zoom.
Ability to work independently in different environments.
Additional Required Qualifications
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently across diverse settings.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support, Non‑violent Crisis Intervention training courses.
Palliative and Wound Care courses.
Telemetry monitoring experience.
