Full-Time Early Childhood Educator Position, Highlands

Join the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island as a Full-Time Early Childhood Educator for a maternity leave role. Your expertise in child care will help foster a nurturing environment for children aged 12 months to 5 years.

This permanent, full-time position is based at the Westhills YMCA-YWCA Child Care location, from June 29, 2026, to July 30, 2027, with potential for extension. You will engage in child-led, play-based programming, ensuring safety and supervision for young learners. Build strong, meaningful relationships with children, families, and staff in this collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:• Follow YMCA-YWCA policies on child guidance and care • Plan and implement a child-centered curriculum • Facilitate a positive learning atmosphere for children • Communicate effectively with families and the community • Maintain safety and confidentiality standards

Requirements:• Current ECE License to Practice in BC • Experience in child care and strong communication skills • First Aid and CPR certification required • Criminal Record Checks (Ministry and Police) • Special Needs Educator Certificate is an asset
