Specialty Instructor - Early Childhood Assistant Job order - J0326-1122 - Casual

The Port Moody Community Services Department is seeking personable, experienced and dynamic Specialty Instructors to assist with classes for preschool and school-aged children. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of programs in a recreational setting and provides a safe and secure environment for children.

Hours&Availability Requirements:

2-5 days per week

Monday - Friday from 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM (with possibility of 11:30 AM to 1:15 PM)

Tuesday - Thursday from 12:15 PM to 2:30 PM

Shifts are for Fall 2026 through to June 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the lead educator in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.

Assist with daily routines within the classroom setting.

Support supervision of children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.

Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Observe and document children’s progress and behavior.

Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development.

Follow all health, safety and City policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (ECA certification or coursework is a strong asset).

Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting.

Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Clear criminal background check and immunization records as required by local regulations.

Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and classroom needs.
