Responsibilities The Network and Systems Administrator assumes responsibility for systems, networks and any IT resources delegated to them. Responsibilities include testing of new systems, maintenance and repair of existing systems. Acts as a final tier of support for all systems and interacts with vendors for support as needed.
Actions tickets for last tier of support for IT resources
Engages vendors for support of systems
Anticipate, identify, mitigate, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on IT resources
Lifting and transportation of moderately heavy objects such as servers, storage and switching
Move, provision and install equipment
Provision new infrastructure equipment and software following all Baffinland standards
Install and maintain structured cabling
Install and maintain equipment mounted on towers and masts
Participate in project work as assigned
Organize, clean and generally maintain all IT infrastructure facilities
Enforce Baffinland security standards and policies
Conduct all work safely and in accordance with Baffinland safety procedures
Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur.
Operate equipment (Man Lift, Skid Steer and Boom Truck).
Maintain all IT facilities including comm. towers, switch cabinets and server rooms.
Provision, install, configure, operate and maintain hardware and software
Monitor hardware and software to ensure uptime and required performance
Qualifications
College Diploma in information technology, software or hardware engineering is required
5-7 years of experience in systems or network administration, cabling, and IT equipment installation
Network design experience required
Microsoft systems administration required
VMWare administration required
Fall arrest training preferred
Man lift experience preferred
Boom truck experience preferred
Cisco UC administration preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Strong communications and interpersonal skills
Experience in writing various forms of business documents, including reports, manuals and operational procedures
Ability to prioritize tasks
Strong analytical/problem solving skills with high attention to details
Positive can-do attitude
