Overview
The MISSISSAUGAS OF THE CREDIT FIRST NATION is accepting applications for the six-month contract position of Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). The RECE supervises children while delivering a safe, developmentally appropriate program. They ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and uphold the College of Early Childhood Educators' Code of Ethics. The RECE maintains open communication with families and supports the overall childcare operations. Anishinabek heritage practices are actively promoted and integrated into daily routines.Education
College Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology OR A diploma from a recognized post-secondary program recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators OR A letter of recognition of equivalency issued by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO)Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators Experience
Working experience with children ages 0-6 and families through student placements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A good working knowledge of How Does Learning Happen, 2014 (HDLH) Solid background in computers with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office 360 and Canva Knowledge of Anishinabek culture and the 7 Grandfather Teachings Knowledge of positive parenting practices and/or traditional parenting practicesMust have an ability to work with a variety of other professionals in the field, community partners and the MCFN EarlyON, Maawdoo Maajaamin Childcare, Ekwaamjigenang Children's Centre and Kindergarten team members Strong written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skillsAssets
Designation of Certification by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO) Knowledge of Ojibwe culture Other Requirements
Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening Valid G Class driver\'s license and a reliable vehicle Safe Food Handler's Certificate or the willingness to obtain one Basic First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain one Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and eveningsPlease apply with a cover letter and a resume. Be prepared to provide documentation that supports certification from CECE. A detailed job description is available at the Administration Building or by email at Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants. Self-identification is encouraged.
