Early Childhood Educator Assistant Job Summary Position: Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)

Wage: $22 per hour; Benefits: medical and dental package

Terms: Permanent, Full‑time

Schedule: 35 hours per week, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with 1 hour unpaid lunch break

Setting: Daycare (children aged 1–6), Halifax, Nova Scotia

Job Duties

Assist ECEs with programs that promote children’s physical development and emotional well‑being

Engage children in storytelling, songs, and crafts

Maintain a neat and clean environment in activity areas, common areas, dining room, and washrooms

Draft written observation reports on children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development for ECEs and supervisors

Plan and organize activities for after‑school programs

Maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and cooking duties

Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and problems

Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits for toddlers

Prepare snacks and arrange rooms, seats and beds for lunch and rest periods

Assist ECEs or supervisors in keeping daycare records

Be good at art

Employment Requirements

Completion of college/CEGEP, or ECE‑level qualification

Fluent in English with strong communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, loving and caring

High energy and able to work under pressure

Patience when working with children

Criminal record check
