Grimsby Town Football Club is seeking to recruit a First Team Physical Performance Coach to join the club’s Performance Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within the club’s first team environment, supporting the delivery of an elite multidisciplinary physical performance programme focused on maximising player performance, availability and long-term athletic development.
Working closely with the Head of Physical Performance and wider medical and coaching staff, the successful candidate will contribute to the planning and delivery of evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes, rehabilitation support, monitoring strategies and return-to-play processes across the first team squad.
The role will involve delivering individual and squad-based physical preparation sessions, leading physical profiling and testing programmes, monitoring training and match loads through GPS data, and supporting players throughout rehabilitation and recovery processes.
Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in sports science, strength and conditioning or a related discipline, alongside experience working within an elite sporting environment. Strong communication, organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
The club is also seeking candidates with experience using performance technologies including GPS systems, force diagnostic equipment and strength and conditioning management software.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the delivery of individualised and squad-based strength and conditioning programmes
Leading physical profiling and performance testing throughout the season
Delivering pre-training preparation and on-field conditioning sessions
Supporting rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes for injured players
Monitoring player exposure to high-speed running and sprint demands using GPS technology
Assisting with training load management and recovery strategies across the training week
Working collaboratively with the medical and coaching departments to support player development and availability
Essential Criteria
Undergraduate degree in sports science, strength and conditioning or related discipline
Experience working in a physical performance role within elite sport
Strong understanding of strength and conditioning principles within professional football
Experience using performance technologies including Catapult GPS and VALD systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable Criteria
MSc or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
UKSCA, NSCA, EXOS, ASCA or BASES accreditation (or working towards)
Experience working within professional football
Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau
Salary for the role is£26,000 – £30,000 per year and the closing date for applications is Sunday 7th June 2026.
