Electrical Engineer– Buildings We are looking for an intermediate Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical design for buildings, including building power, lighting, fire protection, network cabling, security and communications systems. This role will focus on independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects, preparation of electrical specifications, and coordination with utilities and municipalities.
Responsibilities
Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects; preparation of electrical specifications.
Attendance to client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
Obtaining information from equipment suppliers and incorporating it into designs and specifications; preparation of engineering calculations.
Co-ordinating with utilities and municipalities regarding incoming services.
Preparation of schematics, project documents; independent review of shop drawings.
Review of quotations from contractors.
Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.

Qualifications
University degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible to be registered.
Minimum 5 years’ design experience with a demonstrated track record of electrical design of complex building systems.
Extensive skills with AutoCAD, Revit, Word, Acrobat&Excel (MicroStation, power simulation software and other design tools are an asset).
Familiarity with design requirements for building power, lighting, fire protection, and communications systems; familiarity with relevant building codes including OBC, OECS, ASHRAE, CSA.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to working in a team environment. Ability to work on several projects at one time.
