Term of Appointment Monday - Friday, 7 hrs/day (shift is 7:00am - 3:00pm)
Start date: Immediately
Reporting to: Manager of Facilities
Salary Classification 9, $49,769.95 - $51,309.23 annually in accordance with the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Vacation (119 hours annually) is pro‑rated and front loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, and time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Closure during the Christmas Break (December 25 – January 1) is paid time off. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory forall regular full‑time staff, with employer‑matched contributions.
Description The primary function of this position is to provide access to authorized users of College facilities, and to keep College property secure. This candidate will be a member of the facilities team and will be required to perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned during his/her shift. Monitor activity, patrol campus, provide information, direction, and security to the public using tact and diplomacy are regular day‑to‑day tasks. This position will also be required to operate machinery and equipment related to the duties.
Campus Security/Maintenance
personnel are expected to have the ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict demonstrating tact and diplomacy, having excellent interpersonal skills and being an effective team member. A supportive attitude to students and a firm commitment to fostering a student‑centered environment are expected.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12, completion of formal security training (e.g., Justice Institute) with a valid BC security license, a current Level 1 Occupational First Aid, or equivalent, certification and previous experience is required.
This position requires a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Individuals must be able to work with minimal supervision and be capable of lifting 50lbs (23 kilograms).
Preference will be given to those who have general maintenance experience.
Front‑end loader experience is preferred (snow removal in winter months).
